LOT 102 - VALENTINO ROSSI-2014 MOTOGP-MOVISTAR YAMAHA-BOOTS-USED-SIGNED

Auction

MotoGP Authentics is delighted to offer collectors a pair of signed Valentino Rossi Dainese race-used boots from the 2014 MotoGP season. This was the year when Rossi finished as runner-up in the championship and marked a career turning point. The Movistar Yamaha colours and comeback energy represents the absolute determination the legend had to prove he was still the greatest.

Rossi Reborn

In 2014, Rossi used these Axial Pro In, Dainese's top-of-the-range boots, which had been developed with him since 2008. A system in carbon and Kevlar, designed to prevent ankle twisting while maintaining freedom of movement, the structure of these boots helped to improve aerodynamics and safety. Rossi had these customised with the classic fluorescent yellow livery, making them eye-catching and unmistakable.

These boots were first seen used by The Doctor during his 15th season in MotoGP. A season of rebirth, he finished the world championship in 2nd place with 13 podiums and one victory in Misano. It was also the year in which Rossi began to collaborate more closely with Dainese and AGV to develop new generations of protective gear, including increasingly integrated airbag systems.

Why Dainese?

Synonymous with many of the biggest names in motorcycle racing, Dainese has long held a stellar reputation for its development of motorsport equipment, from knee sliders and race suits to gloves and boots, as well producing the first biking airbag system. Today, Dainese remains at the forefront of motorcycle clothing technology and is a fashionable brand across the world of extreme sports.

As well as being at the forefront of safety, the designs of this equipment is often strikingly beautiful and a major reason why fans of Valentino Rossi are keen to add items produced by Dainese to their collections. Dainese often used Valentino's feedback to improve materials and fastenings, and these 2014 Axial Pro In boots were the basis for subsequent models still in the catalogue today.
