The San Marino Grand Prix was first held in 1981 at the Autodromo Dino Ferrari. Over the years it has also been held at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello and the Circuito Internazionale Santa Monica. In 2007, however the Grand Prix moved to Misano and the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli (named in 2012) and has become one of the standout events on the MotoGP™ calendar. The Name of the Grand Prix is actually a misnomer as it has always taken place in Italy but has been named the San Marino Grand Prix due to its close proximity to San Marino and the fact an Italian Grand Prix is already on the race calendar.

This year’s San Marino Grand Prix saw Marc Marquez take the victory only 0.6 seconds ahead of Marco Bezzecchi. His epic win means that he could take the title at the next round in Japan.
