The MotoGP Trophy is an incredible work of art that is made by the famous designer, Marc Garcia Rojals. There is only one original trophy in the world, with every Champion having their plaque and name added to the “Champions Tower” and returning it a year later. When they return it, they are presented with a smaller replica of the original trophy, which is also made by Garcia Rojals.
This is a replica ‘plaque’ to celebrate Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia’s first title with Ducati in 2022. Pecco Bagnaia was in just his fourth season of MotoGP – and second year with the factory Ducati. The opening five rounds looked fairly lacklustre from the Italian and the team – with him sat 10th in the standings on equal points as his teammate, Jack Miller.
The turn in form came at the Spanish Grand Prix. He took pole, fastest lap and the win in a sensational turn of events. The next race – he took pole and fastest lap again. In a run of 9 races, Pecco either won or retired, and after his win at the San Marino Grand Prix he was just 30 points behind the rider who pipped him to the championship the season before. Bagnaia, motivated to not let history repeat itself gave an almighty shift for the final six races and took the championship by 17 points.
Celebrate Pecco Bagnaia delivering Ducati their first title in 15 years, with a perfect replica of the tile that was added to the ‘Championship Tower’, made by the designer of the original trophy. This is a moment worth remembering.
